Air Conditioning FAQ 3: AC Installation Steps

Having a new air conditioning system installed in you your home is a big decision. Here at Air Conditioning Experts, we often get asked about how the process actually works and wanted to shed some light on exactly what steps need to take place. If you need Atlanta air conditioning installation make sure ha you work with a professional contractor. The process will likely go a lot smoother if you do.

No matter what kind of air conditioning system you need to have installed, it is usually best to have it done by a professional contractor.  Here is a quick explanation of the process and how it works.

  • Finding the right sized AC – One of the first and most important steps in the air conditioning installation process is to find the right-sized system. If you get an AC unit that is too small or too large it could cause serious issues of your home’s comfort.
  • Efficiency rating – Most air conditioning system are given a Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) rating which lets you know how efficient the system is. The SEER rating is determined by measuring how much cooling the unit delivers over a season and how much energy it consumes to do so. More efficient air conditioners tend to me more expensive though, so you have to make sure your new system fits both your energy and budget requirements.
  • Installing the unit – Finally, after making sure that you have the right system for your home, that it meets your cooling needs and your budget, then comes the actual installation. Most air conditioning systems are “split” which means that they have an indoor unit that is connected to your ductwork and an outdoor condensing unit. We’ll install both systems, hook them up to your home’s electrical system and then test them to make sure that they’re working well.
