Hopefully, you’ve heard before that it’s important to keep one part of your air conditioning system clean: the filter. The air filter in your AC and furnace (or heat pump, if you have a two-in-one unit) can become clogged with dirt and particulate that makes it more difficult for air to move into the HVAC system. This can cause a number of problems down the line, which is why you should replace your filter about once a month or so.
But this isn’t the only part of your AC system or heat pump you need to keep clean if you expect it to run smoothly. Your air conditioner is home to two important coils—one inside and one outdoors—and today we will focus on the coil outside, the condenser coil.
